Riina came to the UK, from Finland three years ago to study printmaking at UCA, Printmaking, which had always interested her, only became a true favourite during a fine art foundation year in VNF Karjaa in Finland. Before that year art had been more of a dear hobby to her, but being able to concentrate on it full-time and see the passion for it only grow, resulted in the decision to keep studying art. So in a way these three years have only been a start, inspiring personal growth and exploration. She did the Erasmus exchange in ERSEP Tourcoing in France, experiencing not only different techniques and viewpoints, but yet another culture and different way of learning and working. Riina’s work is strongly inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of a shape, clever details and seeing something intriguing and new in seemingly simple everyday subjects, combining imagery of different scales or contexts, or dreamlike and poetic with physically real or visually neutral.
